Community Games - Picnic on the Pitch

An incredible 500 people converged on Norton Cricket Club, Worcester on the Monday 4th June to celebrate HM the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at a Community Games. It was a stereotypically British event with a picnic, tea and even a band whose upbeat music kept everyone entertained.

Overall, it was a great opportunity for the local community to get together, chat and really feel part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.  The children (and the adults!) had a chance play and enjoy the sports on offer.

The children casually dipped in and out of sporting activities at this quite informal gathering. But the success of the Games was not just that everyone enjoyed themselves on the day, but that many  of the children even enjoyed it so much that they have since joined the local youth club to further fuel their new interest in sport.

A massive thank you goes to all the 25 volunteers that helped out, those that helped to fund the event and last but not least, those that helped organise it. Without them all this wonderful day would have not been possible.
